- ==============================================================================
- INFORMATION OF USAGE by LX1OM
- ==============================================================================
-
-
- LX0IST [44.161.1.100] GATEWAY TO INTERNET
- =========================================
-
- The purpose of LX0IST is to establish fast packet links between amateur
- radio stations in taking advantage of Internet.
-
- All the gateways connected to Internet run TCP/IP software. It would
- be very useful if you could try and get familiar to how to use such a
- station BEFORE you climb on to internet. (This avoids loading down
- kilobytes of help-files through Internet and slowing down the gates).
- Also if you want to do yourself TCP/IP you can get in touch with local
- amateurs who certainly are pleased to help you fix the configuration
- up. (Everyone was a beginner at one time)
-
-
-
- CONNECTING LX0IST
- =================
-
- LX0IST is only reachable in TCP/IP.
-
- 1. If you hear lx0ist on direct:
- -----------------------------
- You can telnet lx0ist without any problem in adding the following lines
- to your autoexec.nos
-
- a)in WNOS:
- arp add 44.161.1.100 ax25 lx0ist-2
- ax25 route add <iface> lx0ist-2
- route add 44.161/16 <iface>
-
- b)in JNOS:
- route add 44.161/16 <iface>
- ax25 route add lx0ist-2 <iface>
- arp add lx0ist ax25 lx0ist-2 <iface>
-
- Into your domain.txt you should add:
- lx0ist.ampr.org. IN A 44.161.1.100
- lx0ist.ampr. IN CNAME lx0ist.ampr.org.
- lx1om.ampr.org. IN A 44.161.4.8
- lx1om.ampr. IN CNAME lx1om.ampr.org.
-
-
- 2. If you have to connect via lx0pac and lx1om: (esp. for non-LX stations)
- --------------------------------------------
- As lx0ist uses jnos and so does not do any autorouting you should telnet
- lx0ist in routing lx1om who is using wnos and so puts you automatically
- in his routing tables. So you have to add:
-
- a)in WNOS:
- arp add 44.161.4.8 ax25 lx1om
- ax25 route add <iface> lx1om ...digis... lx0pac
- route add 44.161/16 <iface> 44.161.4.8
- mode 44.161.4.8 ipcam
-
- b)in JNOS:
- ax25 route add lx1om <iface> ...digis... lx0pac
- arp add 44.161.4.8 ax25 lx1om <iface>
- route add 44.161/16 <iface> 44.161.4.8
- ax25 route mode 44.161.4.8 <iface> vc
-
- Into your domain.txt you should add:
- lx0ist.ampr.org. IN A 44.161.1.100
- lx0ist.ampr. IN CNAME lx0ist.ampr.org.
- lx1om.ampr.org. IN A 44.161.4.8
- lx1om.ampr. IN CNAME lx1om.ampr.org.

- NODES
- =====
-
- By typing:
-
- N
-
- you will get a list of international nodes. You can connect them by typing:
-
- c <node> (e.g.: c csiro vk2pk-5
- c crvnos )
-
-
- TELNET
- ======
-
- This is well known to TCP/IP users. However it is possible to connect only
- 44.xxx.xxx.xxx stations due to legal usage of internet.
-
- Actually we have a preferred link with Australia, the United Kingdom and
- Poland. Other links may follow.
-
-
-
- WORLDCONVERSE
- =============
-
- You can connect to db0fho's ping-pong worldconverse mode by typing:
-
- world
-
- Afterwards :
-
- /n <yourcall> <port> (e.g.: /n lx1om 13)
-
- more details with /h when you have logged in.
-
-
-
- SOME RULES
- ==========
- They should be followed for the good functionning of the gate.
-
- 1. Only amateur <> amateur station traffic allowed.
-
- 2. Never even think about trying to connect a commercial station or a
- university. This would lead immediately to exclude your call from
- further connects!
-
- 3. Mails (SMTP) can be done with and to amateur stations only! It is
- not allowed to write a message to someone non-amateur at a university
- and vice-versa for example. Note also that this mails would not be
- forwarded and will be deleted immediately.
-
- 4. Please only connect lx0ist ONCE!
-
-
- NOTE
- ====
-
- You should get familiar to the system and to JNOS in particular. I have not
- the time to explain the exact functioning of TCP/IP to everybody but I am
- sure that a ham in y
- our region who uses it is enjoyed to help you and maybe
- you will be convinced to join the 'ever getting larger' family of TCP/IP
- users. If you want to start in TCP/IP don't forget to ask your national
- TCP/IP coordinator for a TCP/IP number (for LX contact LX1BZ).
-
- Thanks go to all who made this gate possible in helping with the linking
- to internet, the setup of the computer and installation of the software.
- There are still some problems left so please remember that this gate is
- experimential, software updated, links added.
-
- On this I wish you lots of fun with the internet gate and a lot of contacts
- throughout the world.
